Summary on Grant Application Form |
Methods used to select materials and processes are largely empirical, depending on pattern-matching, graphical data, and experience, some of it now captured in expert systems. If generalisations, principles and mathematical descriptions of these can be extracted from the information, it extends its sphere of applicability enormously. The purpose of this visit is to combine the complementary skills of the Grenoble and Cambridge groups in analytical modelling, and in developing selection methodologies.
