Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this proposal is to study the behaviour of proton rich exotic nuclei, in particular to gain knowledge of how such nuclei behave when they are at the limit of existence and how their properties influence the outcome of explosive stellar phenomena such as Novae and Supernovae. Investigations of proton rich nuclei beyond the proton drip-line will be undertaken with a proposed improved sensitivity at the FMA (Argonne, USA) which is the world's leading facility for this research. Reactions for proton-rich nuclei with hydrogen and helium, of astrophysics interest, will be studied at the new second generation radioactive ion beam facility being constructed at the TRIUMF laboratory, Vancouver.
