Summary on Grant Application Form |
ROPA -A family of initiators for atom transfer polymerisation will be synthesised from carbohydrates. The novel initiators will be used to prepare polymers with controlled Mn and Pdi. Two types of materials will result from this work. 1) Star polymers with core sugar units which will have interesting and novel shapes and materials properties and 2) Sugars with pendant polymers where the carbohydrate is available for recognition with a range of potential applications e.g. vaccines, diagnostics, etc.
