It is proposed to extend understanding of cross-polarisation (CP) dynamics to the 1H-19F case (two or more abundant spin baths) and thence to determine true CP rates and relaxation times for key fluoropolymer systems such as PVDF, Viton, PVF and PTrFE. This will provide information on mobility at the molecular level. Selective experiments and special pulse sequences, including use of spin diffusion measurements, will be used to examine domain structure. Information on chemical microstructure will be sought for derivatives of Viton and of poly(gamma-glutamic acid).
