Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this project is to produce, by means of physical analysis, 'optimal' designs for thin-walled structures made from polymeric materials. The design of these structures will be optimised from the point of view of various 'measures-of-merit'. One important application of this work will be the optimal design of plastic packaging in order to minimise the amoutn of material used subject to functional constraints such as strength and volume.
