Summary on Grant Application Form |
Dioxins and related compounds have a high public profile and influence the public perception of industry. Whilst it is increasingly agreed in the clean technology community that the thermal treatment of the waste materials represents one of the best overall environmental options, this view has not generally accepted by the public. It is important that industrial expertise in this field is placed on a firm and rigorously based foundation. The proposed engineering research network aims to promote high quality research as well as improving collaboration, dissemination and exploitation by developing better links throughout the research-based and industrial community of the process industry. Membership will be open to all parties, both industrial and research-based, engaged in design, manufacturing and operating processes including particularly combustor and incinerator plants. Activities will include an annual, industrially-led workshop event for all researchers in this field, regular open workshops, research reviews and dissemination events and communication through a newsletter and web publication.
