Summary on Grant Application Form |
ROPA -The unique physical properties of supercritical HFCs (gas miscibility, tunable solvent power, polarity) will be exploited in an investigation of these solvent systems as environmentally friendly solvents for industrially relevant catalytic processes. The solubilities and catalytic activities (rates, % conversions, selectivities) of representative catalysts (for hydrogenation, hydroformylation, oxidation, halogen exchange) will be used to illustrate the value of this approach alongside an evaluation of solvent stability under reaction conditions and the efficiency of catalyst/product separation using the principles of supercritical fluid extraction.
