Summary on Grant Application Form
Weak or poorly consolidated sandstones may deteriorate to such an extent during oil production that remedial action may be required. Currently this is a complex, time-consuming and costly process which adversely affects productivity. The current approach to sand control involves many steps and, in extreme cases, may permanently reduce the formation permeability. The proposed methodology in this 'proof of concept' bid is based on the use aqueous based treatment fluids which actively target the sand grain contact points offering (i) a simplified treatment process (one or two steps compared to six), (ii) greater reliability and lower risk together with (iii) higher retained permeability of the reservoir.
