Summary on Grant Application Form |
The recently developed optical technique of reflection anisotropy spectroscopy (RAS) will be used to probe the electronic structure and dynamic properties of metal-liquid interfaces. RAS has not yet been applied to such interfaces and it is proposed to make RAS studies of metal-liquid interfaces using RAS instruments recently constructed in Liverpool. This will yields information on metal-electrolyte interfaces important in electrochemistry particularly concerning the dynamics of surface reconstruction's, molecular adsorption, metal growth and alloy formation.
