Summary on Grant Application Form
ROPA -This project aims to develop an electrochemical method for the detection and removal of nitrite from water supplies. This involves the attachment of Type 1 and Type 2 copper centres to an electropolymer to produce a synzyme electrode which can mimic the function of the copper-containing nitrite reductase enzymes. The Type 1 and Type 2 copper centres will be prepared using recently developed novel tripodal ligands. Attachment of the copper centres to the electropolymer will involve either the independent attachment of both types of centre, or the attachment of units containing both the Type 1 and Type 2 centres.
