Summary on Grant Application Form |
Models of thermoluminescence trapping and reconbination sites are receiving major reappraisal as a result of spectral and other data. Proposals now include complex sites which contain both a change trap and, via energy transfer, rare earth ion radiation emission sites. Previous data suggest different RE ions and even RE3+ states of the same ion, produce glow curves at different temperatures. Further detailed experiments are required to confirm, or refute, these major changes in TL models. Totally different glow curves are seen in the range 140 to 300 K for different RE in LaF3, and a pattern of behaviour is being sought.TL glow peaks can undergo dramatic changes in luminescence efficiency and emission spectra during phase transitions. However there are currently very few well documented example, so both original and pulse laser modified metastable will be included in trails to assess the generality of the responses.
