Summary on Grant Application Form |
It is intended to develop a micromagnetic model of magnetisation reversal in MO media. Previous models have been carried out with a regualr microstructure which has been shown to introduce certain artefacts into the calculations. It is intended to develop a more realistic model with random positions of pinning sites in the material. This will require the development of a different technique for the calculation of magnetostatic fields. It is also intended to introduce a dispersion in material properties which is expected to have a significant bearing on the magnetic properties and also the domain structures and their evolution with time. The model will be applied to studies of slow dynamic magnetic behaviour and to the prediction of domain structures and their evolution for comparison with experimental data.
