Summary on Grant Application Form |
We have recently demonstrated that hybrid ligands containing chiral sulfoxides can deliver high ees in catalytic asymmetric processes. The objective of this project is to develop understanding of the transition states involved, to design new classes of chiral sulfoxide-containing hybrid ligands, to investigate their use in asymmetric catalysis, and to correlate their activity in catalysis with their structures and reactivity. The ligands will be applied to asymmetric homogeneous catalysis of organic reactions, principally allylic substitution, conjugate addition to enones, and epoxidation. The project falls within both the Chemical Synthesis and Catalysis activities of the EPSRC Chemistry Programme Response to Foresight.
