Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project will create a network of all UK research groups active in display and related photonic technology, and in system design, engineering and technology which is applicable to display systems. The purpose is to promote dialogue and interaction between and provide mutual aid and support for the partners, ant to create on a web site an international showcase for the UKs leading edge display activity. The activities of the project will be entirely those of information transfer (networking) with the emphasis being on work that at present does not feature prominently in mainstream meetings. The proposed activity is seen as complementary to those of the Display Technology Alliance (DTA), and the Society for Information Display (SID). Strong links will be forged with both organisations to ensure that there is no duplication of effort. The project manager of the DTA and the President of SID worldwide have agreed to sit on the DISNET project steering committee. The Scottish Optoelectronic Association (SOA) has an established network of Scottish groups working on displays. DISNET will capitalise on this by establishing a link with the SOA web-site, and by including n the DISNET membership the six Scottish universities most active in display technologies.
