Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal concerns the setting up and operating of a new network to link academics and industrialists working to improve fuel cell materials processing. The network will start in 1998 and extend to cover 40 institutions in the UK and Europe. The overall umbrella of the network is the development of improved materials processing methods leading to fuel cell devices with low emissions of Nox and CO. Such devices will have applications in transport, power generation and CHP. Interdisciplinary activities will be emphasised by the network, which will be 50% industrial and 50% academic.Skills to be encompassed are:1. New material processing technologies2. Catalysis and reaction/diffusion on oxide surfaces.3. Smart materials including sensors.4. Clean technology application areas e.g. fuel cells, power generation, automobiles, heating systems, cookers, incinerators, reformers, furnaces, CHP.
