There are problems in high cylic fatigue that can not be solved by traditional approaches. They include the small-scale effects and structural integrity analysis for bodies with singular stress concentrators. The lack of a unique approach for bodies with smooth and singular concerntrators prevents creation of robust codes for structural integrity analysis under high cyclic fatigue.A non-local approach is developed in the project to solve these problems. A general form for mechanically meaningful and experimentally measurable non-local damage functionals is to be proposed for high cyclic fatigue and its properties will be investigated. Some particular non-local damage functionals should be represented and their use as first approximations to unknown damage functionals of specific materials should be analysed. Methods for the non-local damage functional identification from test data will be developed, giving necessary corrections to a chosen first approximation. The approach developed will be applied to the fatigue life prediction of several particular structural materials with and without singular stress concentrators, including the stages of damage accumulation, crack initiation, and crack propagation to a critical dimension.
