Summary on Grant Application Form |
First part of the project concerns zero eigenstates (or zero modes) that can exist only in magnetic fields with variable direction. It is intended to search for conditions on the magnetic field which would guarantee their absence. In the second part it is proposed to consider the second order elliptic operators with periodic coefficients by the derivatives of the second order. The aim is to prove their absolute continuity using the method of continuation into the complex plane of the quasi-momentum.The theird party of the project deals with magnetic fields having a constant field component which induces a non-zero flux. It is proposed to identify the cases in which the spectrum of the operator at hand is absolutely continuous under the condition that the flux is integer or, more generally, rational.
