Summary on Grant Application Form
This research will address issues related to learning computer programming. More specifically, it will explore and evaluate various frameworks for the visual representation of typical programming problems against human factors that affect learnability. An appropriate representation can then provide a basis for automating program code generation. If the program code were automatically generated, from the representation provided by a student, the student would then gain a better understanding of the relationship between the problem and the program, which solves the problem. The process of learning, aided with such a tool would eventually lead to improved problem solving skills using computers and to better structural programming sills.
