Summary on Grant Application Form |
The project is concerned with the exploitation of a recent discovered novel class of tubular calixarene ion-channel like based receptor through the syntheses of new multisite calixarene tube like systems containing additional recognition sites for charged guest species. Using a variety of spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques extensive cation and anion co-ordination studies will elucidate selectivity trends and mutual charged guest co-operative, allosteric properties. The membrane ion-channel like transport properties of these receptors will be investigated through their incorporation into different types of phospholipid liposomes.
