Summary on Grant Application Form |
STEFFIE's mission is to put in place a worknet that will be instrumental in launching the rapid growth of UK systems engineering capability. A worknet is collaboration of personnel from diverse backgrounds, cultures and disciplines who combine to produce outputs beyond the reach of the sum of individuals and with a value-addedness that exceeds that of mere co-ordination of a network of individuals. STEFFIE will draw on the experience of similar worknets in systems engineering originated in the USA, e.g. EPIC - Enterprise Process Improvement Collaboration. STEFFIE will build on the foundational work of the Foresight Technology Systems Engineering Working Party which has set out an agenda for research, development, engineering change, training and education in the spirit of Foresight. A major deliverable from STEFFIE will be a cohesive and well defined agenda of multi-disciplinary research programmes for consideration by EPSRC with sponsorship from a broad cross section of industry.
