Summary on Grant Application Form
The identification and assessment of structural damage has been the subject of much research. The purpose this proposal; is to bring together experts form a variety of engineering backgrounds to form a network that meets regularly to discuss and interchange experiences and ideas on the topic of damage assessment. The proposed initial membership of the network is listed in the Case of Support and comprises researchers from both academic and industrial backgrounds. The network will meet twelve times throughout the grant periods and will provide a basis for cross-fertilization in a research area that uses many disparate approaches. Funding the grant period s 3 day conference (DAMAS 99) will be organised by the applicants. At the end of the grant period it is envisaged that the network will continue meeting under the aegis of the Dynamic Testing Agency. A set of guidelines detailing the best practice in damage assessment based on imput from the membership of the network will be prepared by the applicants at the end of the grant period.
