Summary on Grant Application Form |
Low cost, light weight miniature head mounted displays systems require application specific fixed legend emissive displays, with high efficiency for open ocular, portable applications, such as Scuba diving, hand-gliding and other military, industrial and leisure applications. The addition of microlenses over LETFEL apertures will enhance the radiometric coupling efficiency to system optics, which will enhance usability and performance. Initial modelling and fabrication of test devices will define the most efficient aperture for coupling the lateral light to the monolithic microlenses. The performance of LETFEL devices with Greyscale and reflowed microlenses will be compared by modelling and measured system performance. Characterisation of these rugged devices will include, angular divergence, control of beam trajectory, device lifetime and efficiency.
