Summary on Grant Application Form |
We propose to re-equip the Chemistry Departments Chromatographic Service Laboratory (CSL) with state-of-the-art instrumentation for gas (GC) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), including small scale preparitive HPLC, identified by the co-applicants as essential to their future research. The new equipment will facilitate the isolation of natural and synthetic organic products with biological activity, and permit the accurate determination of enantiomeric and diastereoisomeric excesses in novel organic synthetic programmes programmes directed towards the use of chiral auxiliaries and chiral ligand catalysts. The bid provides for distributed data handling for remote access to acquired data and reports via the existing network. These instruments are crucial infrastructure components for the organic synthetic groups.
