Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed visit of Dr JP Booth is to work on the interpretation of data from an ion flux monitoring probe. This instrument, recently developed by the applicant in partnership with Dr Booth (JPB) provides a direct measurement of the number of ions incident on unit area of a surface during a plasma-based process. It is planned to use the same probe to extract information on the electron population in the plasma. During the visit, data will be recorded and analysed using the plasma research facilities at the OU with Dr Booth's latest development of the hardware. Some time will also be spent on discussion between the OU, the PTCL of Oxford University (Prof. G Hancock) and the University of Grenoble (Dr JP Booth), in connection with novel techniques based on a hybrid of electrical and optical diagnostics.
