Summary on Grant Application Form |
A key requirement for the effective use of adaptive unstructured meshes on parallel computers is to use high-level and portable software abstractions that result in predictable parallel performance on large scale industrial and academic problems. This project will address the problem by studying scalable parallel adaptive mesh solvers using an approach based on Shared Abstract Data Types (SADTs). It builds on recent work on SADTs and also the development of a C/MPI code for parallel adaptivity to demonstrate the viability of this approach from both a practical and theoretical viewpoint.
