Summary on Grant Application Form |
The introduction of signature verification technology into real products has been hindered by the fact that most approaches have sought a universal solution to what is, in reality, a diverse range of application areas. An approach developed by the applicant has adopted a more flexible paradigm, seeking to develop an adaptable toolkit of processing modules which can be configured to offer problem domain specific solutions in a flexible and optimal way. The proposed work programme encompasses the development of some specific algorithms to enhance performance levels achievable, but also sets out to investigate some fundamentally new techniques of general interest and relevance to biometric identity authentication with the emphasis on evaluation in the context of signature verification. the basic design framework extends and augments current typical structures as a means of increasing reliability, robustness and flexibility, and seeks a practical implementation tool which will lead to significant advances in the design, evaluation and exploitation of this type of technology.
