Summary on Grant Application Form |
Many of the links between properties of a group and properties of its cohomology are not well understood. This is especially true for complete cohomology, a recent development due to G. Mislin and others. Exciting recent work of P.H. Kropholler and others has exploited what little is known about complete cohomology, and indicates that cohomology relative to all finite subgroups has an important role to play. We shall extend the known connections between a group and its zeroth complete cohomology group, and compare various finiteness conditions in the case of relative cohomology. We shall also bound the exponent of cohomology for finite groups using relative cohomology.
