Summary on Grant Application Form |
The project will develop new analytical tools for electrochemical noise emanating from localised corrosion cells. These tools could, in subsequent projects, be incorporated in new types of corrosion sensors or monitoring equipment strategically situated in plant where possible failures must be guarded against. The technique will involve potential and current variation data collection concurrently with, and independently of, scanning electrochemical probe measurements. Samples will include crevices and environmental conditions which produce the most favourable electrochemistry. The application of new time series analysis methods to this problem will probably result in new software modules which can be exploited commercially by the University.
