Summary on Grant Application Form |
Establishment of a new rapid throughput mass spectrometry facility is proposed for work in two main areas:(i) Characterisation of organic intermediates and products (often in complex mixtures) involved in the development of new routes to heterocyclic compounds and in their applications.(ii) Characterisation of high molecular weight bio-inorganic molecules and of supramolecular assemblies of metal complexes where information on structures in solution is essential to our understanding of modes-of-action.In addition, several other uses of the equipment are proposed where the nature of the work requires characterisation on site, rather than at a remote service centre.
