Soft solids like polymer mixtures, lyotropic liquid crystals and microemulsions etc, exhibit very rich and striking similar phase behaviour including lamellar, haxagonal, spherical and bicontinuous phases. They are structured fluids and show non-Newtonian fluid behaviours due to their microstructures can be easily changed by flow. Recently, the interplay of morphology, kinetics of microstructure formation and rheology in soft solids has attracted growing attention. Understanding the relationships is the only avenue to manipulate morphology and hence to control the macroscopic properties of materials. It has both scientific and technological significance. The aims of the proposed research are to develop a general numerical technique, namely Langrangian-Eulerian-Stochastic method, for modelling soft solid materials related to thier processing and to focus particularly our study on the dynamics of microstructure formations and the effect of flow on the structure evolution of polymer mixtures and concentrated surfactant solutions. A unique feature of the method reflects on its bridge between microscopic discrete and continuous modelling soft materials through the direct coupling of the molecular configurations and stresses of fluids. The results will compare with experiments.
