Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal is for the hands-on Automated VG Platform II Mass Spectrometer. This machine would assist us greatly in generating routine molecular ion data. It would allow users to run samples either by direct injection, or via an LC interface, using APcI (Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionisation). The control and running of the system would be fully automatic. The users simply enter sample details and required experiments and place their sample in the carousel. Typical run times would be 5 and 15 min so through put would be very high. The system would also run samples presented in 96 well plate format and thus would be crucial to our combinatorial chemistry programmes which are underway in several groups.
