Summary on Grant Application Form |
Reactions of heterofunctionalised allylstannanes with aldehydes have been shown to proceed with exceptional levels of remote asymmetric induction. Recently the products of these reactions have been converted stereoselectivity into 2, 5-difunctionalised tetranydrofurans. It is proposed to amplify this chemistry and to apply it to complete total syntheses of biologically active natural products. Initially the methodology will be exemplified by the completion of a total synthesis of nonactic acid. But the it will be applied to complete a total synthesis of a Pamamycin.
