This project extends the results of the 'Valcard' grant, which developed programmable hardware platforms for rapid prototyping of self-validating instrumentation, in three ways:1. Creating next generation hardware and software conforming to relevant interfacing standards.2. Providing digital communications capability conforming to industrial standards (p-Net, Fieldbus Foundation).3. Extending rapid prototyping methodology towards commercial instantiation via ASICS.
