Summary on Grant Application Form |
Chemical modification of wood provides an environmentally friendly means of protection from moisture and decay. The chemical modification process is not understood at a fundamental level. The indications are that this technology will be commercially exploited in the near future. Before such commercialisation takes place a thorough understanding of the mechanism is necessary. This research seeks to contribute to that understanding.
