Summary on Grant Application Form |
The proposed work will examine the use of transition reactions. In particular, the racemisation of simple alcohols, aldol substrates and amines will be examined using hydrogen transfer catalysts. Lipases and esterases will be examined for their ability to perform dynamic resolution reactions on these substrates in the presence of the hydrogen transfer catalysts. The racemisation of appropriate aldol substrates will also lead to epimerisation between syn and anti aldol systems. Enzymes which identify one of four isomers will need to be identified.
