Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this project is to develop self-organising fuzzy multivariable control strategies to drug infusions for circulatory management of ITU patients in shock. Clinically it is difficult to coordinate adjustments to multiple drug infusions for the treatment of ITU patients in shock because each adjustment may have effects on several key circulatory variables. Computer systems can be used to automate these adjustments more frequently because of closer vigilance on monitored variables than is humanly possible. Intelligent self-organising fuzzy control architectures offer learning mechanisms for the control of such uncertain multivariable processes. This control system should give better circulatory control and improved care of ITU patients in shock over current manual interventions.
