Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research project consists of the following parts:1. The development of an ensemble averaging approach in order to derive the basic equations that describe two-phase turbulent gas-particulate and gas-droplet flow. The analytic and numeric treatment of the resulting model for different geometries and boundary conditions. The construction of closure models.2. The development of a predictive two-fluids model to describe two-phase turbulent flow of a suspension of particles/droplets through pipes. The analysis of particle volume fractions and velocity profiles. Analysis of the phenomenon of particle phase segregation.3. Application of the model to the riser section of fluidized bed catalytic cracker or hydro-cracking unit.
