Summary on Grant Application Form
Research will be concerned with investigating the behaviour, performance and potential of CDMA spread spectrum communications schemes based on the use of Multiscale Difference Equation (MSDE) defined Pseudo-Noise (PN) functions and systems, with application to the mobile wireless communications area. The motivation arises from topics such as nonlinear systems and wavelet-related filter theory, and the need for new infrastructure technologies capable of efficiently dealing with novel service possibilities in wireless communications. The approach represents a novel means of generating CDMA spreading signals dispersed in time and frequency. The proposed research will employ the unique properties of the generated spreading signals to engineer novel modulation and coding schemes that are efficient in bandwidth usage, and robust to broadband channel/user interference.
