Summary on Grant Application Form
It is proposed that a computational chemistry facility is established. A multiprocessor machine will be purchased to enable both single processor and parallel work. Software needed by the community will be provided and will be supported by a chemistry software expert. The machine will be run by a management committee of scientists. It is proposed that the machine is at a computer centre, and it will be managed on a day-to-day basis by that centre. Applications for time on the machine will be submitted to the management committee, and will be peer reviewed. The need for such a facility is fully supported by an enclosed list of 29 research proposals which cover the spectrum of computational chemistry within the United Kingdom.
