Summary on Grant Application Form |
Hydrophobic telechelic oligomers will be synthesised and further modified to give azide, oxazole and thiol functional materials. These will be used to crosslink high molecular weight functional polymers, to yield hybrid gels. Hydrophilic oligomers will be prepared using constructive degradation techniques. Both the hydrophilic and hydrophobic oligomers will be used to prepare amphiphilic networks. These hydrogel materials will be examined for biocompatibility by measuring protein adsorption and platelet adhesion characteristics.
