Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research proposed will make a major contribution to industrys ability to update business performance by the introduction of a powerful methodology and supporting prototype software tolls for factory design and reconfiguration. the overall aim of the research is to make it possible to minimise the total time taken to build a dependable model of business whilst allowing the user to select an appropriate starting point and to use the methodology in conjunction with other design aids. The research will be centred around two powerful new concepts: (a) the use of mulit-view modelling techniques which will maximise the value of the methodology and its supporting software; (b) the introduction of the concept of generic business models which will realise considerable advances in reducing the time taken to build factory models, as well as encouraging adoption of best practice in factory design.
