Summary on Grant Application Form |
The project is to implement a predictive controller on the superheater steam temperature control of an electricity generating plant. the principal aim is to demonstrate the advantages, both in efficiency and performance (with their implied cost benefits), of the predictive control strategy to the electricity industry and so motivate them to exploit the algorithm further. The aims of the project will be achieved by a number of smaller theoretical objectives which would be undertaken alongside, and in response to, experimentation on the real plant. The superheater steam temperature would be modelled, a study would be undertaken of the potential of CUTLASS (the current package for implementing controllers), algorithms to make optimum use of advance knowledge would be developed, algorithms which allow for output constraints would be developed. There would also be simulation studies on the non-linear model to give insight into the specific problem.
