Summary on Grant Application Form |
The work is concerned with investigation of a novel heat pipe/ejector system for cooling and heating buildings. The system uses a natural refrigerant (eg, methanol) and is expected to have a high coefficient of performance. The first stage of the programme will involve computer modelling of the system using different refrigerants and ejectors. During the second stage, the most promising refrigerants will be examined using a small-scale test rig. The final stage will involve design, construction and monitoring of a prototype system in order to make a better evaluation of its performance and operating costs.
