Summary on Grant Application Form |
This six month project is to research the PIP within the UK aerospace industry to identify the status and best practice and this recommend a longer tern research agenda. The proposal is complementary to those from Cranfield/Warwick and DeMontfort Universities. A key feature of this research project is the focus on the human issues inherent in all PIP. Behavioural aspects to be assessed include:-adaptability to the methodologies adopted by a company-acceptability of common or differing procedures within project teams and other groups involved in collaborative or linked activities-various management strategies and styles-facilitation of effective and creative contributions by team members-inter- and intra-group communications-data- and knowledge-base management and utilisationIt is recognised that successful concept development [and the flow-down through the design, manufacture and operational phase of the lift cycle, together with the effect on the supply chain] are essential for reductions in time to market and whole-life costs and, therefore will provide the context for this research.
