Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Innovative Manufacturing Initiative (IMI) will harness the innovation processes and products of research in engineering, science and social science for long term wealth creation. (Innovation Manufacturing: A New Way of Working, SERC 1994)The initiative demands an industry-led research agenda couched around a deep understanding and application of business processes. Fundamental to this, for all business, is the efficient and economic development of new products within a cost-effective product introduction process (PIP). Aerospace, due to the complexity of its products, is the ideal research domain for such investigations. The results are likely to be largely generic to manufacturing industry in the wider context. The aims of the Initial Research into the Product Introduction Process have been stated in the overall proposal introduction. The achievement of these aims will have far-reaching benefits for UK industry and the realisation of the objectives of IMI.Key Words: Business Processes, New Products, Product Introduction Process
