Summary on Grant Application Form |
A high field (11.7 T, protons at 500 MHz) Nuclear Magnectic Resonance spectromoter will provide essential underpinning of ongoing and new programmes in Inorganic, Organic, Bioinorganic, Bioorganic, and Medical Chemistry and Biochemistry. These programmes are already substantilly funded by EPSRC and similar bodies, and the new specrtrometer is needed as a replacement for aging faciltieis, some of which are currently off-site, and to materialy increase the extend and sophistication of our access to high field n.m.r. It is intended that a wide range of multinuclear one-and multi-dimentional techniques including NOESY, ROESY, TOCSY, 2Q-COSY and invverse detection will be used. Areas to be investigated will include: Molecular Mechanisms in Cardinogenesis [C. Bleasdale and BT Golding], The Design of New Anti cancer Agents [RJ Griffin, BT Golding and C Bleasdale], The Mechanism of Action of teh Vitamin B12 Coenzyme Adenosylcobalamin [BT Golding], The Chemistry of Polypxp, etallates [RJ Errington], new Maetal-selective Ligands [JC Lochart], Solution Conformations of Organometalluc and Coordingation Compounds [W mcFarlane], Cuboidal Mo4X4 (X=S,Se) and Related Heterometallic M03 MX4 Clusters [AG Sykes], The structure and Reactivity of Blue Copper and Other Metalloproteins [AG Sykes], Side-chain Metallated Peptides [RWF jackson], Complex Mycobacterial Lipids [DE Minnikin], and The Catalytic Mechanism of Deoxryribonuclease (DNase) [BA Connolly].
