Summary on Grant Application Form |
We shall study electron-electron interaction (EEI) and weak localization in 2-d ultra-thin metallic (superconducting) films by fabricating structures incorporating a nearby bulk screening electrode. We have shown that this novel system allows suppression of EEI so that the two quantum corrections can be separated. The system will allow us to deduce EEI length scales in conductivity; phase-breaking lengths and times; the dependence of superconductivity and localization near the metal-insulator transition.
