Summary on Grant Application Form |
The applicant has shown that in the false-twist (FT) texturing of filament yarns, long contact/radiation heaters can be replaced by short turbulent jet heaters using superheated steam. In a further development, short direct water coolers with novel seals have been developed for use in the same threadline as the jet heater. The new concept to be investigated here is to combine heating and cooling into one jet. As a further feature it is proposed to use the turbulent action of the jet to impart false-twist into the yarn, thereby replacing in full or part, the mechanically driven twist head.
