Summary on Grant Application Form |
New sol gel technology will be used to encapsulate or colavently bind scintillators. Success will lead to the replacement of current day liquid scintillation counting technology, where large quantities of aromatic solvents are used and where disposal costs are escalating rapidly. Reduced volume benefits will also emerge in the storage of radioactive waste. The new scintillators will be a source of wealth creation within the UK.
