Summary on Grant Application Form |
A novel range of styrene-functionalised model macromonomers of narrow molecular weight distribution will be synthesised by group transfer polymerisation. These macromonomers will be designed to work as steric stabilisers in aqueous, non-aqueous, or supercritical carbon dioxide media. These reactive stabilisers will be evaluated for the synthesis of polystyrene and acrylic latexes via both emulsion and dispersion polymerisation techniques. Their performance will be compared with that of conventional poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate macromonomers.
